Sheppard Casita and Garden Shed
This design / build residence was for a couple who lived and worked in San Antonio. She helped her mother in a neighborhood store in the small town of Elmendorf (near San Antonio). This was a small rural store that had been in business for many decades. The couple owned land there and wanted a small casita where they could stay over on weekends. They only wanted a bedroom, living area and a bath. Cooking facilities were available at the store and at a large barn area on the property where they hosted “cook-outs” and entertained. Don designed the facility and managed construction residing on site throughout the short construction period. It was designed to have large outdoor decks upstairs and down in order to have a view of the property. Constructed with galvalume siding and roof with steel columns for the deck area. The large vegetable garden has long raised beds to sell in the store. A garden shed with a roll-up door was built to match the house for the mower and garden equipment – with exterior sink for cleaning and processing farm raised vegetables.
